To all members of the Guildford Philharmonic Choir
7 July 2000

This is just a short note from Sally and me (and George, of course!) to thank you all so much for
your incredible generosity towards George. The beautiful chair that your collection bought is

absolutely perfect and he will make much use of it in due course. At the moment it is taking pride
of place in our sitting room and has already been much admired.

Thank you also to the many people who individually sent cards, messages and other presents for
George. Please accept our apologies for not having responded to everyone separately — the gifts are

no less appreciated for it. We have been overwhelmed by the kindness shown towards George and
us: he had about 130 cards!

Having started life a little underweight, he is now catching up rapidly, as you might have seen
when he made his appearance on the platform at the rehearsal for the Belshazzar’s Feast concert.

He has already grown out of loads of clothes and now weighs about 12lbs. He is also doing a lot of
smiling and giggling, is even trying to sit up (to watch the tennis, I suspect) and is a great joy to us

both. It’s also great fun for us to go clothes shopping for him — he has already become quite a

fashion guru!

Thanks again for your hard work over the last season — a really successful one and, as I said at the
AGM, the choir continues to thrive musically. I hope you all have a good summer and look
forward to getting stuck in again in September.

Thank you once again for your kindness and support, both as a choir and individually. It has been
much appreciated.

With love

Yoremy, Sally
& George
