Ifyou want to take part in any of the ,,special-programs“ marked **: please use the
registration form on your arrival (or contact the person responsible). For further
information on these special programs see additional pages.

The programs in bold and underlined letters are intended for all of you. Please give
notice, if you are not able to participate in these events.

Food: Snacks will be provided during rehearsals on Saturday 3 and from Wednesday 7 to
Friday 9. We are sorry that due to limited capacity we cannot provide for whole meals
during and after rehearsals, except on Sunday evening.

-

Clothing: remember to care for warm clothing on trips, especially on Monday (altitude up
to 1.243 m) and Tuesday. We want you to stay healthy and in good humors during your
stay with us in Freiburg. You have come to sing with us, so take care of your voices.

-

Take care of your ,,Gast-Ticket*: you can use all local public transport (buses, trams)
with it. - All times are given in European style, for example: 17.00 is equivalent to 5 p.m.

-

An information board will be installed at the Th.-Egel-Saal where rehearsals take place..
Please check there for any additional information. We are sorry not to be able to
communicate every single aspect in the 8 different languages. Let’s stop talking and

writing - we are sure we are having a great time, great music and a great concert together!

Details on the special programs
1. Timber in modern sawmills (Andreas Grunwald)**
Timber on its way from delivery to several semiproducts and energy supply by pellets. A traditional

branch of Black Forest economics and how it works in modern times (Sagewerk Dold, Buchenbach).
Monday, 5.11., Departure 9.30 a.m., Egel-Saal, Duration approx. 1,5 — 2h.
max. 15 participants, possibly translations in Engl./French, (tel. 0175-4967753)

2. Schools and Education**
a) Visit to a comprehensive schoof** (1250 students) in Freiburg-Haslach. Tour through the buildings
and possibly a chance to observe classes. Thursday or Friday morning, details after preliminary arrangements with Freimut Bahmann (tel. 07641-574732 or 0171-7401608).
b) Visit to a Senior High School** (Goethe-Gymnasium) in the center of Freiburg with special music
classes (sirings). You are invited to share school life with teachers and pupils. Wednesday, details

after prior arrangement with Ute Viane Schulte (tel. 0761-73824).
C) Visit to a traditional Junior/Senior High School (Berthold-Gymnasium) with emphasis on old langua-

ges (Greek/Latin). Details after prior arrangement with Gudrun Safe (tel. 404264).** Wednesday.

3. Art in Public Space - Examples in Freiburg (Andreas Kautzsch)
This will be a walk to 10 - 15 monuments and works of art in the city - most of them 20th century. Your
guide is not a specialist, but a fan of art. Duration approx. 1h

4. Courts and Justice in Freiburg (Alfred Kunschner)**
For those interested in law and courts the guide will introduce you to the work, the history and the
buildingsof judicial courts in Freiburg. max. 5-8 Participants (tel. 0761-77621 or 0151-12718622)

5. The ,Munster“ - the cathedral of Freiburgfor ,art historians’ (Dr.Schutz)**
The guide is a specialist in medieval German literature and will show you some of the wonders of this
marvelous piece of art from the special perspective of the history of art. Max. 20 participants

6. Freiburg - The Solar Capital of Germany (Jutta Beier)**
The ,Solar Fabrik AG* is one of Europe’s leading companies in the production of photovoltaic systems
(,electricity from the sun‘). It is exactly 10 years ago that the company’s production line - the most
modern of its kind anywhere in the world at that time - began in Freiburg. We will be introduced to the

company and can have a look through its production hall. Lunch available at the place after the tour.
Max. 20 participants, translation in Engl./French probabliy provided, approx. 1 hour.

Friday, 10.15 a.m. Martinstor (you will take the tram no. 3 to Solar Fabrik, Munzinger Str. 10, visit
starts there at 11)

7. Titisee (Andreas Kautzsch)**
This will not be a traditional guided tour. As the place is easily accessible by public transport, we will

be with you on the train and provide you with all necessary information to have a good time there (e.g.
walk at the lakeside, see cuckoo-clocks, have Black Forest Cherry Cake) and get back in time for the
rehearsal. Details subject to prior arrangement with Andreas (tel. 2171431).

8. Walking Tour in Freiburg and surroundings (Albrecht Verbeek)
You will have the chance to walk in the forest close to the city of Freiburg with a competent guide on
landscape, local history and forestry. Friday 10.00 a.m., Schwabentor (duration approx. 2 h, other
details after preliminary arrangement with Albrecht Verbeek (tel. 0761-583638).

9. Theater: ,Medea. Stimmen“**

The theater will offer this performance (duration approx. 1’20 h) followed by a backstage-tour (in
English), Friday, ticket 7 €. Please register on your arrival (Klaus-Hinrich Voss, tel. 0761-2909332)

10. Museum of Historical Instruments (Gretel Wyneken)**
The museum is located in a castle in the town of Bad Krozingen 10 minutes by train from Freiburg. It
has a great collection of historical instruments (harpsichords, clavecins, pianofortes, spinets etc.).
