great works across the
spectrum of opera greats from
the 1689 early English dramatic
music of Dido and Aeneas by
Purcell through such greats as
Mozart, Verdi, Bizet, Wagner,
Dvorak and Puccini.
The chorus has now reached
a level of sheer professionalism
and depth of tone with more
than 150 members which
- includes sufficient altos, tenors
and basses to balance the ever
present strength of the soprano
line up..
This staging as a modern
walk on ensemble really was
excellent and exciting
especially in the processional
and off stage pieces.
The four young soloists
gleaned rapturous applause
from the audience for all their parts with special note being
made of Sara Lian Owen’s
rendition of the Song to the
Moon from Rusalka and Philip
Modino’s of Nessun Dorma
from Turandot. Thanks must
be given to the Josephine
Baker Trust for the help in part
sponsoring the soloists.
The orchestra, with the
excellent acoustics of the new
venue, was invigorating and a
- delight to watch and listen to.
The balance with the choir
and the soloist was much
appreciated. Itwas wonderful
to see and listen to what was
really a master class in
Timpani from the ever youthful
Tristan Fry.

Opera at G Live last Saturday
night (March 17),
The acoustic was absolutely
first class - fit indeed for a
celestial choir and certainly
did justice to the brilliance of
the Vivace Ch9ru8Truly amazing sound,
tear-jerking opera choruses,
talented soloists, first class
orchestra and on our doorstep.
All in all a most enjoyable
first visit to G Live though,
from the Circle, I was not
impressed with the sensation

CONGRATULATIONS from a
packed sell out audience at last
nights G Live concert in
- Guildford from Vivace Chorus
with The Brandenburg Sinfonia
conducted by the ever
enthusiastic conductor Jeremy
Backhouse.
.
The staging of the concert
,was absolute on track for the
venue coped really well with
the public circulation of this
maximum capacity audience
with good facilities for the
mobility impaired though a
lack of hand rails in some
places was noted.
The next two concerts by the
choir will be in the impressive
surroundings of the Guildford
Cathedral. The first on May 19
will include the Rachmaninov
2nd piano concerto, The Bells
and Vespers and on the
November 17 Britten’s War
Requiem.
I hope it will not be long
before we see the Vivace
Chorus back at G Live for
another popular choral music
concert
