‘Vaughan William’s Serenade to Music was originally performedin 1938 at the Royal Albert Hall by 16 of
the best singers of the era. Itis now the turn ofVivace
Chorus to match the magisterial performances of the
likes of Isobel Bailie and Heddle Nash.
Elgar’s The Music Makers will be the colophon to

sing and play as if they were all in dreamland.

However conductor Jeremy Backhouse would like to
‘ensure audiences that this will be a committed per-

formance and is convinced they will enjoy Elgar’s
quotes from many of his earlier works such as
Enigma Variations, Gerontius, Sea Pictures, the violin concerto, two symphonies and even Rule
Britannia.
