Concert marks 21st anniversary of towns’ twinning
MILLENNIUM concert to celebrate 21 years since the twinning of
Guildford and Frieburg will feature
choirs
from
both
towns
at
Guildford
Cathedral on Saturday, March 11.
The gala performance of Bach’s St Matthew
Passion will be jointly performed by the
Frieburger Bachchor, Guildford Philharmonic
Choir and Surrey County Youth Choir. The
Brandenburg Sinfonia,
conducted by Jeremy
Backhouse, will give support.
This will be the seventh time the Bachchor
and the Philharmonic have performed together since their first joint concert in 1990. They
last teamed up in 1998 for a performance of
Handel’s Israel in Egypt in the Freiburg
Konzerthaus.
Starting at 7pm, the Passion will be sung in
German, with Helen Neeves, Jeanette Ager and
Adrian Peacock among the soloists.
