Guildford gears up
for a memorable
new Millennium
GUILDFORD Borough is gearing up
to mark the Millennium year in memorable style.
On Monday, 51 local
organisations received a
total of £22,500 — with
cheques ranging from £50
to £5,000.

The money, presented
by the Mayor of Guild“ford, Dr Robert Blundell,
will be used to fund projects and events, both big
and small, across the
whole area.
'The largest cheque, for
£5,000, was presented to
Guildford Lions to help
fund
its
spectacular
Easter Monday Pageant
Parade next April.
President John Fellows
told the Surrey Advertiser:
“We are very grateful for
the support given to us by
the council, which has
kept its promise to support
our
Millennium
plan.”
Mr Fellows said the
historical parade — which
celebrates 1,000 years of
British history — will begin
in Stoke Park and wend
its way through the town
to Shalford Park.

village’s year-long celebrations, which will be
